Here’s why the hug between Aishwarya Rai and Rani Mukherjee has been making headline

MUMBAI: Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Rani Mukerji crossed paths recently at Krishna Raj Kapoor’s funeral. The two leading ladies greeted each other and Rani warmly hugged Aishwarya. Well, the reason this hug is being spoken about is the two’s past rivalry.

Fans who are following these beauties from the beginning of their career will know that Aishwarya and Rani were thick friends. In fact, Rani had talked about the Kajra Re actress very fondly until things turned sour.

When Aishwarya was going through a bad patch with her then boyfriend Salman Khan, her career was also on stake. It was widely reported that Salman had misbehaved on the sets of Chalte Chalte (2003), where Aishwarya was the main lead.

Salman not only broke things on the set but also had a tiff with Shah Rukh Khan, who was also the main lead, and the producer of the movie. Owing to this incident, Rani stepped into Aishwarya’s shoes. Aishwarya felt hurt and let down by Rani. Things got more awkward when Aishwarya started dating Vivek Oberoi.

Even though Vivek and Rani had delivered blockbuster hit Saathiya, their rapport off-screen was not that good. If rumours are to be believed, Vivek was majorly responsible for creating a rift between the two when he asked his girlfriend to keep a safe distance from his Saathiya co-star.

That’s not all, Rani was also rumoured to have been dating Abhishek Bachchan. Reports suggested that Rani and Abhishek had become really close. However, Abhishek’s family did not approve of Rani. Things went from bad to worse when Aishwarya and Abhishek’s relationship made headlines and both actors decided to not invite Rani for their wedding.

At the time, Rani had said in an interview that the answer to why she was not invited for the wedding was with Abhishek and that it’s on special occasions like this that one comes to know who one’s friends are.

However, it now seems like the actresses have let bygones be bygones. Because when Aishwarya lost her father, Rani was one of the first actors to be with her and console her.

The latest visuals of the two hugging are making their fans happy. They even want to see the two in a movie together.
