Meet the man who could have played Milkha Singh

Farhan Akhtar as Bhaag Milkha Bhaag was the perfect choice to play Milkha Singh. Ever wondered who else could have suited the role perfectly well? Allow us to introduce you to Anil Mange, a brilliant actor who was last seen playing the role of Lord Shiva in PK.

Anil had not just auditioned for Milkha Singh role but almost started preparing for it with great vigour. Says the actor, "I auditioned for the lead role. I spent about 6000 rupees for just the audition. Also Subhash Ghai sir too mailed Rakesh Om Prakash recommending me and asking him (Rakesh) to cast me. He also enumerated the points why I could fit the role."

Unfortunately, destiny had other plans as Farhan Akhtar ended up bagging the role. However, Anil has no regrets. For him, harbouring a desire to play a dream role is akin to restricting yourself. "Sometimes you have to let go. There are other good things out there waiting for you and you just have to grab them."

And so happened Hasey Toh Phasey and PK. "I consider Hasee Toh Phasee as the turning point as it gave me good recognition. Then PK was a movie that gave me a chance to work with Raju sir and Aamir sir. I still remember this incident where at Kala Ghoda festival this year while I was in a taxi, a man called out to me loudly and said, 'Bum Bum Bole."

An alumnus of the prestigious Whistling Woods International, Anil believes in staying positive waiting to go with the flow. "There is space for everyone here. There will be failures but you have to stay positive and focus on good things in life."

For the moment, it is Akshay Kumar's Singh is Bling that is keeping Anil busy."I have an important role in the movie but it's too early to speak anything about the same."
