Can't watch any of my films: Shekhar Kapur

Veteran filmmaker Shekhar Kapur says he cannot watch any film he has directed because then he can only see what he could have done better.

"I have not seen Masoom since I made it! I can't watch any of my films because I only see what I could have done better. I still cannot watch as an outsider. So cannot fathom why it has such a following all these years after its first release," Kapur tweeted on Friday.

The filmmaker is known for directing films like Masoom, Mr. India, Bandit Queen, Elizabeth and Elizabeth: The Golden Age.

Kapur is known for his works in Hindi and international cinema. He is known in Bollywood for his recurring role in the TV seriesKhandan in the mid-1980s and his directorial debut in the cult Bollywood film Masoom in 1983 and then Mr. India.

Rana Daggubati pays tribute to Stan Lee at Tokyo Comic Con

Actor Rana Daggubati, who has dubbed for Thanos in the Telugu version of Avengers: Infinity War, attended the opening ceremony of Comic Con Tokyo on Friday. He paid a tribute to the late Marvel Comics icon Stan Lee.

In the pictures circulated on social media, the Baahubali actor can be seen signing the memorial board kept at the event in rememberance of Stan Lee, curator of some of Hollywood's most popular superheroes like Spider-Man to Black Panther.

"Dear Stan Lee: Thanks for giving us hope and dreams," read the memorial board, where Rana signed.

Rana also met stars like Tom Hiddleston, Ezra Miller, James Phelps and Oliver Phelps here.

He posed with Marvel's biggest villain Thanos' statue and signed a couple of posters of his film Baahubali at the Comic Con.

"And I'm here Comic Con Tokyo...," Rana wrote on Twitter.

In an earlier interview to a leading publication Rana had spoken up about his fascination for Marvel Comics.

He had said, "I felt the sheer power of Thanos while dubbing and tried my best to bring it through the voice. It was fascinating because the entire story is told from the point of view of Thanos.

"I have grown up reading Marvel Comics and Marvel movies with their intricately woven storylines. It is fascinating to see how Marvel has created characters and stories that resonate so well with audiences across the globe, making movies at a scale that one had never before imagined."

On the film front, Rana will next be seen in NTR biopic Mahanayakudu and Akshay Kumar starrer Housefull 4.

Acting is not something that intrigues me: Krishna Shroff

Krishna Shroff, the younger sister of actor Tiger Shroff, says acting is not something that intrigues her.

Krishna, daughter of actor Jackie Shroff and Ayesha, interacted with the media at the launch of MMA Matrix Gym along with her brother Tiger and mother here on Thursday.

Krishna has earlier worked as an assistant director in Tiger's Munna Michael. After Tiger's entry into Hindi films, there were reports that Krishna is also going to join films and her Instagram pictures also tells the same story, but she says otherwise.

"When it comes to acting, I have always been very clear from the beginning that it's not something that intrigues me. I am not the one to face the camera... I am a very private person. I like my own zone and I like being in my own space. I have a couple of friends that I have known for almost 20 years now and it's just me and them in my own little bubble," she said.

One needs to be passionate about doing something, believes Krishna.

"If I am not passionate about that one thing then, I won't give it my 100 per cent. I am a very competitive person, so if I know that I can't give my 100 per cent to something, then I am not going to be the best at it and that's when I just refuse to do it."

Asked if she follows Mixed Martial Arts in her regular life, she said: "I have been following the sport for many years but I just started practising recently. It has really empowered me. More than feeling confident about my physical capabilities, it really has helped with my mental strength and as a woman, it empowers you to feel that you have an upper hand to protect yourself anywhere in the world".

Krishna said that her brother Tiger is the biggest inspiration for her since childhood.

"I actually love working out with him. We both share the same passion about fitness. I find my motivation through him. He is one of my biggest inspirations since we were kids. I always strive to be as good as him. If you are living with him every day and you don't feel inspired and motivated then, there is something wrong with you."

Hindi litterateur, poet and essayist Ashok Chakradhar has penned the dialogues for Panipat, which will tell the story of what led to the Third Battle of Panipat. It will be produced by Sunita Gowariker under their home banner AGPPL in association with Vision World.

Kavita Krishnamurthy, L. Subramaniam celebrate Indian classical music in New York

There was a little bit of emotion, chemistry and lots of music when globally renowned violinist Dr. L. Subramaniam and popular vocalist and his wife Kavita Krishnamurthy got onto the stage to celebrate the power of classical music at the Carnegie Hall here.

As part of HCL concerts -- an initiative to preserve and promote India's art and cultural heritage -- Subramaniam and Kavita got together to put a musical evening here on Thursday. This is the first time HCL has taken the concert to foreign shores.

Kavita, who has rendered hits like Hawa hawai, Dil diya hai jaan bhi denge, Tu hee re, Albla sajan and Maar daala, started the evening on a spiritual note with Om Namah Shivaya, before adding a Bollywood touch to the evening.

Looking elegant in an off-white sari in the chilly winter of New York, Kavita turned back the clock and returned to her hits like Pyar hua chupke se from 1942: A Love Story and Hawa hawai picturised on late Sridevi.

Sharing an anecdote, she said, "Javed Akhtar told that song shouldn't make any sense. It should be gibberish."

She then sang an A.R. Rahman work titled Dheeme dheeme.

The evening promised to celebrate classical music, and it became a reality when Subramaniam got on to the stage with his violin. He brought forward a world of fusion in music with his notes and rhythm.

He set a sombre mood with his music. The thing that stood out was his ' jugalbandi' with his wife and team. It was not only mesmerising but captivating as well.

He ended the night with Ganga.

Talking about taking the concerts out of India, Arthur Filip, Chief Managing Officer said, "Every venue is like an ultimate hack for us. Try and test. There are couple of things we are thinking about like putting a price on the ticket so that people appreciate the art. We are going to take small ticket price and find charities which are very meaningful in the local country or city that we are hosting the event. We will most likely do something in education, children, wellness and art."

Tiger feels 'Baaghi 2' is a tough act to follow up

Tiger Shroff, who delivered a box office hit with Baaghi 2, is looking forward to his kitty of new projects, but says the action entertainer is a tough act for him to follow up as an actor.

Tiger interacted with the media when he launched his Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) Matrix gym along with his sister Krishna Shroff and mother Ayesha Shroff here on Thursday.

He will next be seen in Dharma Productions' Student of The Year 2 and he will also share screen space with Hrithik Roshan for the first time in a Yash Raj Films production.

Asked how he looks at his upcoming releases, Tiger said, "I am feeling fortunate and excited that I have line-up of good films which include Student of The Year 2 and a film with Hrithik Roshan sir.

"I am very excited about these two big films and I am very excited to be a part of such big production houses for the first time. So, I am feeling a bit nervous and thankful. I am very happy that Baaghi 2 did well, but after that, it will be a tough act to follow for me. So, fingers crossed to both those films."

What was his inspiration to open his own MMA specialised gym?

"My inspiration behind this always has been the youth and the children of our country. I have been following this sport since the age of four. Whatever little I have achieved in my career, is all thanks to my martial arts background.

"I have been doing action films since past four years, so I am really thankful that whatever acceptance I have got is through this art. Ever since my first film came up, every other mother and children often used to ask me that from where and how I learnt martial arts. So I didn't have answer for that.

"I used to train at Juhu beach. It's not exactly the safest place for everybody to go and learn. I was lucky enough to get through it, so that's how I came up with this idea to open a gym," he said.

Tiger feels it's the right time to open a gym for MMA in India.
