Gangaa’s director Yusuf Ansari talks about his journey in the field direction.
director Yusuf Ansari

Yusuf Ansari is a well-known name in the television industry. He has been associated with shows like Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon?...Ek Baar Phir and many more.

Currently, he works with Sphereorigins (as a Director) and is actively involved in the ongoing project Gangaa on &TV in capacity of a director.

We had a chat with the talented man for our behind the lens section. Read on...

Tell us something about yourself?

I am from Mumbai. I entered the industry through designer Ritu Deora. I was working with them as the costume attendant. Special Squad was the first show as a costume attendant. Later, I took up direction. I am a carefree bird who tries taking up challenges as I like to explore places and people.

How has your journey been so far?

It’s really been a wonderful experience so far. Lot of unexpected things occurred which directly or indirectly helped me in shaping up my career.

Which all shows have you worked in (directed) so far?

As a director, I have only worked for Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon?...Ek Baar Phir (Star Plus). I am currently directing &TV’s Gangaa

Have you ever faced any kind of actor tantrums?

(Laughs) Not yet. I am blessed that I have always got very supportive actors.

What are the three things that you keep in mind before directing a show?

My sir’s (Waseem Sabir, Nandu Kale and Satyam Tripathi) words…which are focus, be calm & composed and always be humble.

How are Aditi Sharma and Vishal Vashishtha as actors in Gangaa?

Aditi and Vishal are the best actors that I have ever worked with. They are equally responsible for uplifting the show.

What do you have to say about Ruhana Khanna?

Ruhana is a baby doll who is a de-stress medicine for me.

Was Ruhana’s comeback planned to bring back the old charm?

Yes, obviously, we wanted the charm back in our show and thank god it came at the right time. Audience love Ruhana and her power-packed performance.

How much of a change have you seen in the industry all these while?

It’s all about evolution. There are a lot of changes and I think change is always good. I also hope to see TV growing day by day.

Any actor that you want to direct?

I had an amazing experience working with Vishal and Aditi, so I would like to direct them again.

Any Bollywood plans?

Right now, I am working on TV shows. I think my next destination will be films. I would surely want to do it if I get a chance.

Lastly, what’s new lined up in store for audience in Gangaa?

I think will keep that a secret and it will be a surprise for all the audience.
