Will Kulvaddhu counter SRK's KBC?

Isn't history repeating itself? Five years back when Kkusum, featuring Anuj Saxena, aired on Sony, Star Plus' KBC with Amitabh Bachchan on the host's seat had simultaneously left the audience spellbound. And now once again both the channels are ready with two mega shows to be telecast around the same time. We are talking about Kulvaddhu (Sony), which is backed by Anuj's production house - Maverick and KBC (Star Plus) where King Khan, Shahrukh will takeover the mantle from Big B. The former goes on air from 25th December while the latter will be back in January.

Now let's see, if the charm of any of the shows rubs off positively on the other like it did five years back. Or will SRK's enamour rule the remote control or will the new bride be more efficient in hooking the audience to her saga?

And here's more dope on Kulvaddhu. A little birdie informs us that the show was earlier titled Niyati (name of the protagonist in the show) but it was registered with someone else. Also Sandiip Sikcand, creative head of Sony, wanted the name to be numerologically correct and was also inclined towards the K element. Now only time will tell whether this factor will re-create the magic for Sony!

Rajeev's defence connections!

The crowd went into a tizzy when Rajeev Khandelwal, the handsome Captain Rajveer of Left Right Left hosted the Navy Queen Ball recently. The suave actor was at his wittiest best and kept the audiences in splits for a long time. He flattered the beauty pageant contestants and stole many a hearts.

The actor added, "My father's in the army and have grown watching the army officers in all there finery on such special occasions and know exactly how it feels to belong to the defence services. I love the audience and the beautiful girls out here," chirps Rajeev gleefully who came dressed in black suit.

Much for the actor who has had a defense background, playing an army officer and now getting to host the Navy Ball.

Pracheen's spiritual side!

Pracheen Chauhan is one helluva religious actor who has been visiting Shirdi every year for seeking the blessings of almighty. The actor has been going to Shirdi (Nasik) every year on 1 January to pray for good work and life.

" Yes, for the past three years I've been going to Shirdi and this year also if I don't have a lot of work then I'd like to go to Nasik. I stay there for a day and feel at peace and seek solace out there. Monaz had work so she couldn't accompany the last two times," smiles the actor.

Pracheen is currently doing Sindoor and looking out for meatier roles and was last also seen in Twinkle Beauty Parlour.

Here's hoping this religious actor gets what he has been praying for so long.

Resham Dankh bites the dust

Resham Dankh which started off as an interesting thriller and gradually went askew, is going off air from today. According to some sources, the downfall of this show was caused by the production house's (Hats Off) preference for Gujju actors that made them veer from the original storyline and give importance and more screen time to Gujju actors like Rajiv Mehta, Dimple Shah and relatively unknown actors which the viewers could not relate to. In the current track, popular and main lead stars like Raahil Azam and Moulli Ganguly were sidelined and this did not go down well with the home audience.

When confronted, Aatish Kapadia refuted the charges, saying, "I am often accused of this which is the most ridiculous, insidious and nepotistic accusation ever. For your info, Vandana Pathak and Supriya Pathak (Khichdi) are not Gujaratis but Maharashtrians, Rajesh Kumar and Rupali Ganguly are a Bihari and a Bengali, respectively; Sumeet Raghavan is a South Indian (all of them from Sarabhai
vs Sarabhai). And to say we cast Satish Shah and Ratna Pathak Shah because they are Gujjus would be an insult to their talent."

Aatish goes on to add, " Yes, I have a strong bias towards stage actors and I keep approaching serious stage actors, be it Gujarati or Marathi because they know the nuances of fine acting and perfectly understand the undercurrents of my storyline. Though unfortunately, I do agree that the sub-plotting had meandered too far from the original story and it is now difficult to come to any logical ending in relation to the original."

The reason for the untimely and premature clobber of the serial is because the track had swerved to such an extent that even the main child protagonist around whom the story was based could not be brought back. The serial ends abruptly today, focusing on one of the chawl residents.
