Gear up for the big day tomorrow when the elections to form the Production Association Union will happen!!

Yes, we are talking about the Elections that we will be held tomorrow (25 September) at Filmcity Studio, Floor No. 1, Goregaon E from 10.30 am to 6 PM.

For all the years, the production association of the TV and Film fraternity has had no union formed to take care of the needs of its members. The first of the Production Association elections were held two years back, where few independent candidates stood for elections and held posts. Ever since, there has been a remarkable movement seen in the help and timely action rendered to the people who have been toiling hard in the production front.

The election to be held tomorrow will be closely fought between ‘United Production of Bollywood’ and ‘Fight for Right’ production groups.

The candidates who will be representing the United Productions of Bollywood group will be Pravin Bandodkar, Amit Chandra, Prem Singh Takhur, Surinder Malhotra, Manish Goswami, Aarif Shaikh, Kunal Thakur, Akhilesh Singh, Kumar Jadhav, Pramod Shukla, Munir Lone, Ahmed Khan, Rajendra Upadhyay, Ravi Davande and Divyang Joshi. This group has nearly 9 candidates who have been in power and have been actively involved in the union from the time elections happened in the year 2014.

Retirement fund for senior members, death compensation to the family of deceased, enhancement of medical aid to members, waiver of subscription, timely resolution of dispute matters, digitalization etc are some of the key achievements of the union that has been in power.

Now, the elections to be held tomorrow aims at giving a better future for all the people who have been part of the production.

Giving a tough competition to the United Production of Bollywood group is the Fight for Right production group. The candidates representing the group in the elections will be Surendra Srivastav, Prakash Upadhyay, Radheshyam Gupta, Kiran Shahi, Deepak Kumar Choudhary, Shailesh Pandya, Imran Merchant, Ravi Chaturvedi, Sanjay Sharma, Bhavesh Pachmatiya, Santosh Jadhav, Pervez Alam Khan, Dharmendra Arora, Ashok Dubey and Navin Kumar Rai.

When contacted, Munir Lone who has served 30 years in the industry and is one of the senior representatives of the United Production of Bollywood told us, “For years, there has been no accountability of the funds raised in the association. We had no election for the production association till the year 2014. And the work carried out in the last two years has been enormous. Production people are the poorest of all. We will be generating money only for our members. We are basically fighting for our rights.”

When contacted, Sanjay Sharma who is representing the other group Fight for Right told us, “We are not fighting a political battle out here. This is an election for our own members; there is no negative publicity that we are spreading. We are fighting for our rights. We work for production; we are sweating for our production and our own members. Whoever wins, the best aspect of this election is that we will be forming a production association union which will help our own members.”

All the best to the teams and candidates participating!! May the best group win...

Remember the date folks, tomorrow is the D-day to form your own Production Union. So please cast your valuable votes, and do not forget to bring your ID cards.

Of course, we will be right back with thr results whenever it gets declared.
