A father-son relationship onscreen always has a khatta-meetha approach - Shahab Khan

Shahab Khan

The man known to play father to fiery young daughters Pratigya and Nandini in his earlier show, will be back but this time with a son in Meri Aashiqui Tum Se Hi (Balaji Telefilms) on Colors. Yes, we are talking about Shahab Khan who is seen playing Ranveer’s (Shakti Arora) father in the show.

When we spoke to the actor, he said “I play this man who leaves his hometown Junagarh and comes to Mumbai with his young son Ranveer to start a new life. Here he gets a job in a rich family as a driver and starts bringing up his son. Also he and his son get attached to this family and thus when Ranveer falls in love with his employer’s daughter all hell breaks loose.”

So how different it is to play the father of a hero in a show, we asked Shahab. “A father’s affection always remains the same although yes, with daughters it’s a more close relationship. After Honge Juda Na Hum this is the second time I am fathering the hero and with sons, it’s kind of a khatta meetha relationship. This is how a father-son relationship is defined on TV usually, but as an actor I enjoy both,” smiled the man.

Also there has been a rumour that the actor was to quit the show, when asked on that, Shahab replied, “Recently we have been shooting day and night to complete our telecast deadlines and that took a toll on me. My health suffered badly so I was actually contemplating on how would I manage to continue. But everything has been sorted now and I am back to shooting normally with the team.”

And as he signed off, the actor shared, “The show looks beautiful and I would request viewers to enjoy the happenings and twists that are being lined up in the coming episode.”
