Jayati Bhatia

One of the contestants who surprised both the judges as well as the viewers alike with her graceful performance and stood at the number five position in BBC Worldwide Productions’ Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa (Colors), in its first week, was none other than Jayati Bhatia.

Curious, when we got in touch with her co-star Manish Raisinghania aka Siddhant of Colors’ Sasural Simar Ka to get his take on Mataji aka Jayati’s performance in the dance reality show, he couldn’t stop praising her.

“She is a fantastic dancer and her performance on the stage of Jhalak… came as a shocker to me. Jayati ji is an incredible actress hence I was confident that she would rock the stage with her expressions. But she shocked everybody with her moves for which she also got a hug from Karan Johar,” said the actor.

Furthermore, recalling the time when Jayati was first offered the show Manish shared, “I remember she was sitting in the mandir on the sets where we shoot most of our scenes together, when she exclaimed: mera dil dhak dhak kar raha hai. Later, she went on to reveal that she was offered Jhalak... She wasn’t sure about taking up the show but finally she gave her nod.”

But her having agreed to do the show hasn’t made things simpler for her; in fact she has been under a lot of pressure of late. Getting to know of her extra efforts, Manish said, “It’s not easy to juggle between a daily soap and a reality show but Jayati ji has been doing so. I have seen her on the sets. She gets tired and then is all the time worried about making it to her rehearsals.”

So does Manish motivate her? “Yes, we do discuss about the song selection and the conceptualisation of it. We try to come up with that extraordinary bit to the entire act as I feel even if you’re giving your hundred per cent, you need to add that extra twenty per cent and that’s what we work towards.”

Lastly he added, “I am waiting to see more action from Jayati ji and also from the Mataji above (goddess Durga). As we always discuss things before the goddess and also say a prayer or two at times.”

Manish plays Jayati’s grandson in the serial.
