One should always evolve as a person, personally and professionally. Mahesh Thakur is an actor who lives by this philosophy. Read his Facebook messages and you will realise how grounded and evolved he is as a person. And professionally, he has always believed in spreading his wings.

A master performer, Mahesh –who is currently seen in Sasural Genda Phool on Star Plus – has now donned the mantle of a film maker.

“Oh, no no no... It is just a fun film. It is not some attempt to become a film-maker or anything. But yes, I had my share of fun,” laughs Mahesh.

The “fun films” –yes he has made not one but two short flicks– we are talking about are called, Hairy Promise and Till Hair Do Us Apart.

“As the names suggest, they have “hairy” issues. I shot both the films on the sets of Sasural Genda Phool and with the cast of the show. It was during the Holi sequence wherein we were shooting a Sholay scene, so we all had to wear wigs and everything. That was the time when I shot. Some scenes were taken candidly while in some I told the actors to enact. You can see the majority of Sasural’s cast in the films,” he goes to inform.

For viewers, you can log on to YouTube and watch his films. Here are the links,

“I had my script ready in my mind and I just shot it. I learnt a lot in the process. But I have another script ready. It will be a film of about 35 to 40 minutes having a strong message on suicide. The film will spread the word that life is too precious to give it away. I will target festivals with this attempt.”

We wish you all the best, Mahesh. We know you will rock it. But on a different note, television is becoming bolder with passing time –reference to Ram-Sakshi kiss on Bade Achhe– so does he have any inhibition on kissing on screen if the script demands?

“We are actors and we need to enact scenes. Even if it is kissing, once the scene gets over, the concerned actors should not linger about it. Just move on. If someone does linger, then things get a little uncomfortable. Other than that, it’s a part of acting,” he shares.

Finally, he ends with this message for his fans, “Thanks a lot for loving me and wanting to see me on television. Because of you guys I have a job. Have a great year ahead.”
