A few years ago, every second show on Indian Television would be called a dramatic show but that’s not the case anymore.
There are a few selected shows that are dramatic in true sense with the right blend of emotions.
Accordingly, the Twelfth Indian Telly Awards has nominated a few of them.
The list reads as follows:
Going alphabetically, Sony Entertainment Televisions's Bade Achhe Lagte Hain (Balaji Telefilms) stands first in this list. Balaji Telefilms is known for making dramatic shows be it Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Kasautii Zindagii Kay or Bairi Piya. Similarly, the Ram Kapoor (Ram) and Sakshi Tanwar (Priya) starrer Bade Achhe Lagte Hain is an immensely dramatic show.
The serial has experienced several dramatic elements that includes Ram and Priya coming back after staying away from each other for a few years. Plus, there were lot of other elements that added to the drama which included Ram’s evil mother Niharika (Eva Grover) and his step brother Siddhant (Mahesh Shetty) trying to take over his property. And, yes, not to forget Priya’s sister Ayesha (Chahhat Khanna/ Akanksha Juneja) getting married to Ram soon after Priya’s separation from him. The show is currently gearing up for a big leap which will bring in a lot of drama for its viewers.
Moving on, we have Star Plus’ Diya Aur Baati Hum (Shashi Sumeet Mittal Productions Pvt Ltd). The former writer duo Shashi and Sumeet Mittal have an expertise in creating dramatic shows with a social message. Diya Aur Batti Hum is one such product from their stable. The serial has an exact blend of family drama. Where, the lead protagonist of the show Sandhya (Deepika Singh) is either seen solving her problems or that of others. Plus, she manages to land up in some issue or the other. The show also has a mother-in-law element in Bhabo (Neelu Vaghela) that adds to the drama.
Sister bonding can lead to a lot of drama in television shows and that’s something that we have learnt by watching Star Plus’ Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna Hai (Cinevistaas Ltd.). The elder sister Jeevika (Krystle Dsouza) could never let go off her younger sibling Maanvi (Niaa Sharma) which led to a lot of friction in her marital life. Moving on from here, the sisters had to deal with Maanvi contracting Cancer. Furthermore, Jeevika's husband Viren (Karan Tacker) going to jail and more. Thus, this one is definitely an entertaining dramatic show.
Next on our list is the very filmy and dramatic Colors’ Madhubala - Ek Ishq Ek Junoon (Nautanki Telefilms). This particular story started with guns and goons and a film studio. Hence, there is no question of it being even an inch away from the word drama.
Colors’ Sasural Simar Ka (Rashmi Sharma Productions) is an extremely dramatic show. It started with the story of sister’s (Simar-Roli) getting married in the same family which led to them having clashes between each other. And then a new entrant (Khishi – Jyotsana Chandola) in the family, ruining their peace and happiness.
Yet another Colors’ show that has been entertaining the audiences with it’s never ending dramatic element is Uttaran (FilmFarm Productions). The show started with friends turning enemies, the show took a leap, their grown up kids coming in the picture, their rivalry and then some past enemies coming back into the present. This particular show has a lot of loose ends that keep adding to the dramatic element here.
